Job Description:
The Engineering Stores Controller at I&J Fishing is responsible for managing and controlling the engineering stores functions, including the full process for drawing and issuing stock, capturing information in SAP, and ensuring the accuracy of stock levels through a planned cycle counting program.

  • Grade 12 / NQF4
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering Stores (preferred)

  • Control engineering stores functions, including the full process for drawing and issuing stock
  • Capture information in SAP and draw history reports as needed
  • Capture service reports in SAP and ensure that the Planner receives them
  • Identify parts and equipment that will be required for vessels
  • Check all new stock to ensure that it is correct
  • Manage the rotable service exchange, including repairing and rotating parts and equipment that come off vessels
  • Identify new rotables and ensure that vessel departures are not impacted by a lack of replacement parts
  • Manage the quality inspection process for all repairs
  • Manage the store to ensure obsolete or redundant stock is sold or written off as needed
  • Ensure that slow-moving stock is managed and stored in the secondary store area
  • Manage repairs internally, if possible, and discuss with the Workshop Foreman for external repairs
  • Assist the Inventory Manager with the full stock counting process monthly, quarterly, and annually at financial year-end or as needed
  • Provide commentary and explanation for changes in stock levels
  • Contain costs and control budget
  • Control critical spares and report on the monthly cost analysis to the Head of Engineering and the Finance Manager
