Duties and Responsibilities
- Acknowledgment of quote requests from the sales staff, clients, and agents
- Ensure all information is available to prepare an estimate as per the incoterm.
- Check if a client is on recoveries to quote accordingly with additional mark up’s.
- Obtain rates per branch for new business and shipments where there are no agreed / local rates or rate sheets received from other branches (China rates, Europe, Italy, etc)
- Request and compare rates received from agents overseas and shipping lines
- Request transport rates/clearing rates/tariffs from clearing department/insurance percentages/agency and finance/mark up’s if not available on hand.
- Adding information to the estimate sheet per incoterm and per mode.
- Checking of information before the completion
- Send the quote to the client with required transit times or any additional info that that client requires.
- Correspond and communicate with clients in a professional manner.
- Follow up on all quotes and estimates compiled.
- Complete the estimate register with accurate and complete information.
- Send the report to a dedicated party weekly to compile and report to the manager.
- Attends to estimate register.
- Attends to recovery report
- Compiles all Head office reports
Requirements:
- Matric
- 3+ years experience in the freight forwarding industry
- Must have a basic understanding of imports, exports, and all modes of transport (air, sea, road)
- Must have experience in the freight forwarding industry(non-negotiable)
