Motor Mechanic : Propel Personnel

• Performs major repairs and maintenance on a variety of OEM brands.
• Exchanges, rebuilds and overhauls motors, gearboxes, fuel systems and other motor vehicle components and systems.
• Repairs and refurbishes major systems to include diesel and petrol engines.
• Repairs automatic and manual gearboxes, drive line systems, and various utility systems and controls, and diagnoses the cause of mechanical failures.
• Uses visual and auditory checks and test equipment, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters and pressure gauges to determine the exact nature or extent of repair or adjustment necessary to complete work orders.
• Determines whether any additional repairs, other than those stated on the job card are necessary.
• Removes and disassembles engine and or assemblies, sub-assemblies, components and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems.
• Checks and repairs electrical and cooling systems.
• Performs oil and filter changes, gearbox service, brake and suspension repair, air conditioning diagnosis and repair, and other scheduled maintenance to ensure equipment is properly serviced.
• Test engines for satisfactory performance.
• Installs after-market accessories and equipment.
• Maintains records of work performed and parts used.
• Uses on-board or hand-held electronic diagnostic equipment and other specialised tools and equipment to isolate and adjust malfunctions.
• Performs other preventive maintenance operations as required.
• Calculates consumables and labour costs, to complete work orders
• Performs any other reasonable work as assigned.
