Role summary
The successful incumbent is responsible for daily communication with medical aids, nursing staff and medical practitioners regarding confirmations of medical aids and payments.
Key work output and accountabilities
- Assist with the application of clinical knowledge in the risk management of patients in terms of length of stay, level of care and ICD and CPT coding.
- Handle information of a confidential nature.
- Ensure all patients have authorisation numbers.
- Ensure all information obtained from the medical aid is captured on system and conveyed/escalated appropriately.
- Assisting with bi-annual stock takes
- Assisting with data capturing
- Maintain and sustain effective working relationships with all customers and colleagues
- Manage associated administrative tasks.
- Assist with any adhoc duties assigned by the Pharmacy Retail Manager or any senior member of staff
- Assume responsibility for own personal and professional development.
- Keep up to date with Netcare’s evolving policies and procedures.
Skills profile
Education
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 Qualification.
Work experience
- Previous experience in a hospital environment
Knowledge
- Computer literate with strong administration and organizational skills
- Knowledge of ICD/CPT coding and experience with Scale of Benefits/ARS Contracts is advantageous
- The ability to work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions
- The ability to maintain a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge by keeping abreast of current development and trends in the medical related field impacting on the post.
