Hospital Clerk (Confirmations) at Netcare

 

Role summary

The successful incumbent is responsible for daily communication with medical aids, nursing staff and medical practitioners regarding confirmations of medical aids and payments.

Key work output and accountabilities

  • Assist with the application of clinical knowledge in the risk management of patients in terms of length of stay, level of care and ICD and CPT coding.
  • Handle information of a confidential nature.
  • Ensure all patients have authorisation numbers.
  • Ensure all information obtained from the medical aid is captured on system and conveyed/escalated appropriately.
  • Assisting with bi-annual stock takes
  • Assisting with data capturing
  • Maintain and sustain effective working relationships with all customers and colleagues
  • Manage associated administrative tasks.
  • Assist with any adhoc duties assigned by the Pharmacy Retail Manager or any senior member of staff
  • Assume responsibility for own personal and professional development.
  • Keep up to date with Netcare’s evolving policies and procedures.

Skills profile

Education

  • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 Qualification.

Work experience

  • Previous experience in a hospital environment

Knowledge

  • Computer literate with strong administration and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of ICD/CPT coding and experience with Scale of Benefits/ARS Contracts is advantageous
  • The ability to work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions
  • The ability to maintain a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge by keeping abreast of current development and trends in the medical related field impacting on the post.
